Sadio Mane buys French lower tier club Bourges Foot 18

The Senegalese forward, Sadio Mane, has taken over ownership of the French Championnat National 2 club, Bourges Foot 18.

The Al-Nassr star successfully finalized the acquisition of the club on Tuesday morning and has officially been declared as the primary shareholder of the French team.

Mane joins the growing list of footballers venturing into club ownership, with N’Golo Kante previously investing in the Belgian third-tier side Royal Excelsior Virton.

During a press conference conducted in France, Sadio Mane, appearing via video message, expressed his enthusiasm about becoming a part of the club’s ownership, as documented on social media.

The 31-year-old has previously made investments in various ventures in his native Senegal, and the acquisition of the French club is viewed as a means to facilitate young players from Africa in pursuing top-level football careers.

Mane initiated his professional career in France, commencing with Ligue 1’s FC Metz, and subsequently played for Red Bull Salzburg, Southampton, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich.

His transfer to Al-Nassr in the summer transfer window from the German giants was reported by the BBC.
