Shevchenko names Yarmolenko, 23 others for Eagles friendly

Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko has named 14 home-based players for their forthcoming European Championship qualifier against Lithuania and the friendly with Nigeria, next month, Sports Extra reports.

According to a statement on the Ukrainian Football Federation website, Shevchenko called up seven players from Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv while the duo Andriy Yarmolenko and Oleksandr Zinchenko who ply their trade in the Premier League in England were also listed for the encounters.

Others listed for the clash are Celtic’s Maryan Shved and the trio Ihor Plastun, Roman Bezus, Roman Yaremchuk from Belgian club, Gent.

Meanwhile, Yevhen Shakhov, Sergey Sidorchuk, Nikolay Shaparenko and Artem Besedin have been placed on standby.

Ukraine currently leading Group B with 10 points from four games will face Lithuania on September 7 in Vilnius before taking on the Super Eagles in the first-ever meeting between the two countries at the Dnipro Arena three days later.
