South Africa to face Nigeria in AFCON Semi-Finals after Cape Verde defeat

South Africa’s Bafana Bafana will go head to head with Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the AFCON Semi-finals after edging out Cape Verde in a tough match that ended with a 2-1 victory after penalty shootout.

The two teams failed to score any goals in the allocated 120 minutes that ended in a 0-0 draw in the quarter-finals game.

Bafana Bafana keeper Ronwen Williams saved the day by saving four penalties, becoming an instant hero of the match.

Following the narrow win, South Africa moved to join Nigeria at the semi-finals.

The two teams will battle it out on Wednesday, February 7 for a spot at the finals.
