CD Tenerife winger Omorinsola Babajide has chosen to leave England to represent the Super Falcons of Nigeria on the international stage.

The 25-year-old was born in London, England, to Nigerian parents, which grants her the choice to play for either the Three Lionesses or the Super Falcons on the international stage.

The ex-Liverpool forward had previously played for the England Women’s team in the Under-19, Under-20, and Under-21 categories.

She was a member of the squad that secured a bronze medal during the 2018 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, held in France.

The player, who was born in England, expressed her joy at receiving her first invitation to join the Nigeria Women’s national team setup. She shared her reaction on her official Instagram page, as reported by Daily Trust.

She said, “I’m grateful and blessed to have received a call-up for the Olympic Qualifiers; the love I’ve been feeling has been very overwhelming. Thank you so much #Honoured #SuperFalcons.”

She plays alongside Monday Gift and Esther Okoronkwo at Tenerife, where the three of them create a formidable attacking force for the Spanish team.

Babajide enjoyed a successful club career in England, having played for various clubs such as Crystal Palace, Millwall Lionesses, Watford, Liverpool, and Brighton & Hove Albion before making the move to Spain. She initially joined Real Betis in 2022 and later made the switch to Tenerife after one season with them.
