Taiwo Awoniyi has been announced as the recipient of Nottingham Forest’s “Goal of the Month” for January 2026.
The Nigerian forward earned the honour thanks to his brilliant solo effort in Sean Dyche’s team’s 2–0 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Igor Jesus had earlier put the “Tricky Trees” ahead in the 12th minute of the encounter.
Awoniyi came on as a substitute in the 68th minute.
The 28-year-old sealed the result by netting Forest’s second goal with 11 minutes remaining.
After collecting a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, the striker embarked on an impressive run before calmly finishing past Caoimhin Kelleher.
The strike marked Awoniyi’s first goal of the campaign for the “Tricky Trees”.
He has featured in eight league matches for Forest this season.
