The 400m indoor world record set by Christopher Morales Williams cannot be officially confirmed due to “a problem with the starting blocks.”
At the SEC Indoor Championships in Arkansas on Saturday, the 19-year-old Canadian clocked a time of 44.49 seconds.
External reports indicated that the starting blocks used did not adhere to World Athletics regulations.
The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association stated externally that Morales Williams’ time will be recognized as “an all-time world best.”
American Kerron Clement set the indoor world record of 44.57 seconds at the same Fayetteville track in 2005.
