Tottenham close in on Genoa defender Dragusin

Tottenham is nearing the finalization of a deal for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, with a proposed fee of approximately 25 million euros (£21.5 million) plus additional add-ons.

Spurs defender Djed Spence, recently back from an unsuccessful loan stint at Leeds United, may potentially join Genoa on loan for the remainder of the season as part of the agreement.

Radu Dragusin, the 21-year-old Romanian, has featured in all 22 matches for Serie A side Genoa this season. Bayern Munich has also expressed interest in the player.

Having developed through Juventus’ youth system, Dragusin had a loan spell with Genoa before making a permanent move last summer.

Tottenham has been actively seeking a center-back to provide support for Cristian Romero and Mickey van de Ven, both of whom have faced injuries this season.

In recent weeks, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has utilized full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal as central defenders to address the injuries in the defensive lineup.

Eric Dier has found himself out of favor with Postecoglou, who indicated that the club can afford to part ways with the defender. Bayern Munich is rumored to be interested in signing the 29-year-old England international.

Despite earning 49 caps for England, Dier has struggled to secure a regular spot in Tottenham’s starting lineup this season. German reports suggest that he is on the verge of a move to the Bundesliga champions.

In another development, Djed Spence’s season-long loan at Leeds was terminated prematurely, and he has returned to Tottenham after featuring in only seven Championship appearances.
