Tottenham Hotspur has transferred forward Troy Parrott to Dutch club AZ Alkmaar for an undisclosed fee reported to be around £6.7m (8m euros).

The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international has inked a five-year deal with the Eredivisie outfit, keeping him there until the summer of 2029.

Born in Dublin, Parrott joined Spurs in 2017 and progressed through the club’s youth ranks, making his Premier League debut two years later at the age of 17.

However, he struggled to secure a regular spot in Tottenham’s first team, leading to loan stints at Millwall, Ipswich Town, MK Dons, and Preston North End.

Parrott, whose contract at Spurs was set to expire next year, spent the previous season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, where he netted 17 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions.

“I think AZ is the perfect club for me to take the next steps in my development,” Parrott told AZ’s website.

“It helps me that I already played in the Netherlands last season and am therefore used to the competition and life here.”

Parrott, who made four Spurs first-team appearances, has scored five goals in 23 international appearances for the Republic.
