Pep Guardiola will not enjoy the trolls from Wolves after a player he called by his nationality returned to deal a defeat to his Manchester City team at the Molineux.

The champions faced a tough battle in the absence of their manager on the touchline. Spanish midfielder Rodri was also unavailable due to a red card suspension after an incident against Nottingham Forest.

The match saw City fall behind due to a Ruben Dias own goal, but they managed to equalize with Julian Alvarez’s impressive freekick. However, Hwang Hee-Chan’s goal in the second half put Wolves back in the lead, ultimately sealing their victory.

It has been reported that Guardiola forgot Hwang Hee-Chan’s name during a press conference and referred to him as “the Korean guy,” only for him to come back and haunt City.

Guardiola said, “Always we struggle at Wolves, and when you see the quality individually that they have, especially up front with (Pedro) Neto, with (Matheus) Cunha, with the Korean guy, they are really, really good.”

The Korean player netted the decisive goal, prompting a quick response from the Wolves X admin who took note of Guardiola’s reference during his press conference.

In the hours following the match, Wolves TikTok shared a playful video, incorporating Guardiola’s remark, Chan’s response of having no comment, and a highlight of the winning goal.

It’s likely that Pep meant no offense; perhaps he simply forgot the name or found it challenging to pronounce, leading him to take what he saw as the simplest approach.
