World Cup: FIFA forbids Kane from using ‘OneLove’ armband
Harry Kane of England has been forbidden by FIFA from donning the “OneLove” armband while playing in the current World Cup in Qatar.
FIFA has warned Kane that if he enters the field with the armband during their opening match against Iran on Monday afternoon, he would face an immediate yellow card (today).
The armband is not permitted under FIFA’s severe rules regarding player attire, which also apply to other items of clothing.
The armband’s purpose is to express solidarity with marginalized communities that face discrimination in the host nation.
According to reports, Kane may receive a second yellow card and be immediately suspended from the third game if he leads wears the armband again in their subsequent match.
