If your computer is frozen (not responding), you can reset it safely using these steps:
1. Try simple fixes first
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete
- On Windows, this may bring up options like Task Manager or restart.
- Try Alt + F4 to close the active program.
- Move the mouse or press keys to confirm it’s truly frozen.
2. Force close programs
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
- Select the unresponsive app → click End Task
3. Restart the computer
If nothing responds:
- Press and hold the Power button for about 5–10 seconds until the computer turns off.
- Wait a few seconds, then press the Power button again to turn it back on.
4. If it keeps freezing
- Disconnect external devices (USB, mouse, etc.)
- Check for overheating (let it cool down)
- Run system updates or antivirus scan
Important tip ⚠️
Force shutdown can cause loss of unsaved work, so only use it if other options fail.
