Owner of the microblogging site, X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk, said on Thursday that the platform will be adding audio and video call features.
Musk announced in a tweet on Thursday from his X handle.
The tech billionaire said that the features will be compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, and PC devices.
He also added that the features will not require a phone number to use.
He stated, “Video & audio calls coming to X. Works on iOS, Android, Mac & PC. No phone number is needed.”
” X is the effective global address book. That set of factors is unique,” he assured.
Since taking over Twitter in October 2022, Elon Musk has made several changes to the platform, including making the blue checkmark a subscription-only feature, introducing community notes, monetizing content, and renaming the company to X.
On Saturday, July 1, Elon Musk imposed temporary restrictions on the social media platform to address the severe levels of data scraping and system manipulation.
