The Coroner’s Court investigating the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has ruled out foul play or homicide in the case.

Delivering her verdict on Friday at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi found that the auxiliary nurse involved acted unlawfully and displayed professional negligence.

The coroner recommended that the unlicensed nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, be prosecuted for medical negligence after she administered an injection to the singer without a doctor’s prescription.

“In accordance with Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, this court recommends the prosecution of the unlicensed medical personnel, Felicia Ogedengbe, by the Director of Public Prosecution for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence,” Magistrate Shotobi declared.

The court further noted that Mohbad had previously petitioned the police over assault and intimidation by individuals including Naira Marley and Sam Larry. The coroner stressed that these allegations deserved thorough investigation in light of details revealed during the inquest.

The court criticised Mohbad’s father for arranging a hasty burial without first demanding an autopsy. It also faulted Mohbad’s wife for treating him at home instead of taking him to a hospital at the earliest opportunity.

Additionally, the coroner condemned the role of social media influencers and content creators in spreading misinformation about the case, stating that their actions undermined the integrity of the court proceedings.

The court concluded with broader recommendations for improving healthcare service delivery and enhancing the responsiveness of law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety.
