Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar visited former President Goodluck Jonathan at his Abuja home on Saturday.
The meeting was their first since Jonathan returned from an election observation assignment in Guinea-Bissau.
Sharing photos of the visit on his verified social media pages on Sunday, Atiku wrote, “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.”
Jonathan, who led Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari in his 2015 reelection bid.
The meeting comes shortly after Atiku formally defected to the African Democratic Congress.
He joined the ADC after quitting the Peoples Democratic Party, arguing that the party had strayed from the ideals of its founding leaders.
There are growing suggestions that Atiku could become the ADC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
