AFCON: $500,000 for semis, $1,000,000 for final, Nigerian billionaire pledges Dollar rain for Eagles

Abdul Samad Rabiu, the chairman of BUA Group, has promised to donate $500,000 to the Super Eagles should the team win their semi-final match against Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. 

The business tycoon made the pledge in a post on X following Nigeria’s defeat of Algeria in the quarter-final on Saturday.

Goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealed Nigeria’s triumph over the Algerians at the Grand Stade de Marrakech. The Eagles advanced to their 16th AFCON semi-final, where they will face Morocco, the hosts.

Rabiu also promised that every goal scored in the semi-final will attract addition $50,000 for the team.

He added that “should you go on to win the final, I further pledge USD $1,000,000, plus USD $100,000 for each goal scored in the final”

“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals,” Rabiu writes.

Nigeria will face Morocco for a place in the final on Wednesday at 9 pm Nigerian time.
