The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, has promised to deliver steady and dependable electricity across the state if elected in the June 20, 2026 poll.

Speaking in a statement released in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Oluyede expressed confidence that his administration could replicate successful independent power projects implemented in other states by creating the right policies and investment climate to attract credible players into the sector.

He criticised previous governments for offering temporary fixes to longstanding electricity problems, arguing that such measures have failed to address the root causes.

He said, “During campaigns, some make promises about electricity, but after winning, they return with transformers. How does that translate to actual power supply?”

Oluyede emphasised that reliable electricity would boost productivity and reduce dependence on government support, enabling residents to improve their livelihoods.

He maintained that solving Ekiti’s power challenges would require strong political will, stating, “Achieving stable power supply requires the intentionality of a willing leader. If independent electricity generation is possible in Abia State, it is possible in Ekiti,” stressing that effective leadership is key to achieving meaningful results.

The PDP candidate assured that his government would prioritise accountability and ensure that electricity services remain affordable while delivering value for money.

He added that improved power supply would drive industrialisation, create jobs, and enhance economic growth, making Ekiti more attractive to investors.

“When people have stable power, they will pay for it and create opportunities for themselves,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to the state’s development.

Oluyede also called on voters to support his candidacy in the upcoming election, reiterating his plan to transform Ekiti into a more self-reliant and economically vibrant state through targeted policies focused on energy and growth.
