Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has responded to criticism surrounding his appearance at the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.

The artiste faced backlash from some Nigerians who questioned his decision to perform at a political event amid growing concerns over insecurity and economic challenges in the country. Critics argued that public figures should demand greater accountability from the government rather than participate in partisan gatherings.

Speaking on the Black Box podcast, Ice Prince explained that his participation was based on a personal family connection to the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.

He revealed that Yilwatda is his uncle and was the person who invited him to perform at the convention.

“Who booked me for that event? My uncle – Nentawe Yilwatda who is the APC Chairman. He is not just a random person to me. He is my real uncle,” he said.
