The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three additional suspects allegedly linked to the abduction of the Dean of Agriculture at Nasarawa State University, Professor Samuel Avengbe Okunsebor.
The three suspects were arrested by DSS operatives on Friday night, according to a security source.
Okunsebor was rescued by DSS operatives two days after he was abducted by gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Mile Uku, a border community between Lafia and Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Areas.
Two suspects, including a woman, were initially arrested in connection with the incident.
The latest arrests were reportedly carried out at a local brothel along the Mararaban Akunza-Lafia-Makurdi highway.
The source identified the suspects as 25-year-old Yakubu Abubakar, also known as Black/Starboy, from Doemak community in Plateau State; 37-year-old Usman Abubakar Mairiga; and 27-year-old Sale Babauro Abubakar.
According to the source, Mairiga is of Hausa background, while Sale Babauro Abubakar is of Fulani background.
The three suspects are currently being held at the State Command for further investigation.
The source added that their detention followed the acquisition of a valid detention warrant from a magistrate’s court.
