The newly crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, has arrived in Vietnam to represent Nigeria at the ongoing 73rd Miss World Festival.
The 26-year-old Port Harcourt-born beauty is among contestants from different countries competing for the Miss World crown.
Karibi-George was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, after emerging victorious from a field of 20 finalists. Although she represented Bayelsa State during the national contest, she hails from Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Popularly known as Soye, she has joined other contestants in Vietnam for the various activities and challenges scheduled ahead of the grand finale.
Karibi-George studied at Madonna University, Okija, after completing her education at Obiye High School and Obiye Academy. She is also an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
Beyond pageantry, she is recognised for her advocacy for children with special needs and is the founder of Beyond Labels, an initiative focused on promoting inclusion, dignity and empowerment for children with special needs.
Through the initiative, she advocates for opportunities that enable children to develop their abilities and pursue their aspirations.
Before securing the Miss World Nigeria 2026 crown, Karibi-George won Miss Africa International 2024 in Accra, Ghana.
She subsequently defeated 19 other finalists to succeed Joy Mojisola Raimi, who represented Nigeria at the 72nd Miss World pageant in India and finished among the Top 20.
Ahead of her departure for Vietnam, Karibi-George said the competition represented more than a beauty contest. In a Facebook post on August 7, she wrote:
“With purpose in my heart, I depart Nigeria to represent our great nation at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam.”
“This journey is about more than competing for the Blue Crown. It is about representing the strength, culture, tenacity, and compassion of our nation, while continuing to champion the Beyond Labels Initiative and the belief that every individual deserves to be seen for their potential.”
She concluded:
“Vietnam is calling, and Nigeria is coming,” she wrote.
Now in Vietnam, the Nigerian representative is participating in the festival’s activities as contestants compete across various stages of the competition.
Contestants are assessed on areas including communication, confidence, intelligence, purpose and commitment to social causes.
Her participation also provides an opportunity to promote the Beyond Labels initiative while showcasing aspects of Nigerian culture and identity on the international stage.
The 73rd Miss World Festival is taking place in Vietnam, with contestants participating in a series of events leading up to the final.
As the competition progresses, attention will be focused on how far Miss World Nigeria 2026 advances in the race for the Blue Crown while representing Nigeria globally.
