19

A former lecturer at Chicago State University has accused President Bola Tinubu of lying about his educational background, claiming that his position at the American institution gave him firsthand knowledge of the president’s alleged attendance.

The former lecturer, who said he spent five years teaching at the university, made the allegation while discussing Tinubu’s claim that he attended the institution.

According to him, he was not only a lecturer at the university during the period in question but also served as the director of the programme Tinubu allegedly claimed to have attended.

He maintained that his position within the institution made him familiar with the programme and its activities.

“Tinubu is a professional bonafide liar. I lectured at Chicago State University for five years, and during that period, he claimed he attended the institution. I was the director of the very programme he claimed to have attended,” the former lecturer said.

The accusation adds another dimension to the longstanding controversy surrounding Tinubu’s academic records and educational history.

Tinubu’s educational qualifications became a major subject of public discussion during the 2023 presidential election, particularly following legal challenges and questions raised about his academic records.

Chicago State University also featured prominently in the controversy after documents relating to Tinubu’s academic records were released during legal proceedings in the United States.

The former lecturer’s latest remarks have drawn attention to the dispute, with his claims centred on his alleged knowledge of the university’s programme and Tinubu’s purported participation in it.

However, the allegation remains the lecturer’s personal claim and should be considered alongside verified records and other available evidence.
