The Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, has deployed 1,500 personnel, including special marshals, to manage key traffic points across the state for the Easter celebration.
In a Wednesday press statement, the state Sector Public Education Officer, FRSC, Margaret Onabe, said emergency response teams have been placed on standby to address any reported incidents. Towing trucks, patrol vehicles, motorbikes, and ambulances are stationed at strategic locations to respond to emergencies or traffic disruptions.
She urged motorists to prioritise road safety, follow traffic rules, and exercise caution on the roads, particularly during the busy holiday period.
“The Sector Commander of the FRSC, Anambra State Command, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, urges drivers to prioritise road safety, obey traffic rules, and exercise caution on the roads, especially during this period of increased traffic. Passengers are also advised to wear seat belts, avoid overloading, and report reckless driving to authorities. Let’s make this Easter a memorable one, not for crashes, but for safe travels and joyful celebrations,” the statement added.
For emergency assistance, the public can call the FRSC toll-free number: 122. The Command remains committed to saving lives, public enlightenment, and prompt rescue services.
Easter is a Christian religious holiday, also known as a feast day, that celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, as described in the New Testament of the Bible.
It is considered the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church. Easter is preceded by the season of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and penance.
