Men of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a man simply identified as Alabo who allegedly sliced his female tenant and her husband with a machete at Ekwulobia Street in Mile 3, Diobu in Port Harcourt.

On May 15, 2022, the landlord went for the lady, Comfort Nwagadi, who was claimed to have refused his love advances, inflicting many machete injuries on her.

The landlord also attacked and macheted the woman’s husband, who was attempting to save his wife, inflicting injuries on him as well.

According to reports, the landlord departed immediately after realising his actions were heinous in order to avoid arrest.

Alabo was however arrested on Sunday by the police who had been trailing him for months.

The woman, Mrs Nwagadi, confirmed the arrest of the suspect (her fleeing landlord) in a voice note sent to our correspondent on Monday.

She recalled that the suspect, Alabo, had ambushed her immediately after she entered the compound that fateful day.

She said her landlord attacked her with a machete the moment she entered the compound cutting her on her head and fingers.

“That day, he also attacked my husband who tried to intervene. Alabo cut him with the machete too and ran away that night. Since then, he had not been seen.

“But yesterday, the Azikiwe Road Police Division called that they had arrested him. Now that he has been arrested, all I want is justice,” she stated.

The case file was transferred from the Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department Unit of the command on the directive of the then Commissioner of Police.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she would find out from the Azikiwe Police Station and get back to our correspondent.

She had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report on Monday evening.
