Experienced Nigerian actress Rita Dominic has disclosed the pitiful sum she was paid for her very first film role many years ago.

In a recent interview with Ghana’s Joy 99.7 FM, she said that the first film she starred in paid her N10,000.

Rita Dominic clarified that although the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood) wasn’t profitable when she first started acting, she was motivated by her enthusiasm.

The actress said;

“I just wanted to be an actor. And to be honest, there was no money in Nollywood back then. We were just doing it for the passion. We have the passion for the art which was what fuelled us.“It was very challenging. But we just kept doing it until the industry got bigger and bigger. And obviously the pay became much better.”

Asked the lowest amount she has ever received for a movie role, Dominic responded:

“The first film I did, the filmmaker paid me N35,000. But he owed me N25,000 for how many months. In fact, he didn’t even pay me the balance. He paid me only N10,000 [laughs].”

On Thursday, Rita Dominic entertained her audience with unique dance moves at an all-female program which took place in Ghana.

The actress who rocked a bold red blazer, skirt and black high heels drew the attention of many with her daring outfit.

Asides the outfit, netizens couldn’t stop talking about Rita Dominic’s dance moves when she was called upstage at the Women of Valor conference.
