Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has expressed concern over the growing wave of killings and abductions in Oyo state and other parts of the country.

Armed men recently attacked schools and neighbouring communities in Oriire LGA of Oyo state, abducting pupils, students and teachers.

The affected schools include Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A Primary School in Esin Ele, all located within the Ogbomoso axis.

Reacting in a social media post on Wednesday, the filmmaker described the worsening insecurity as painful and personal.

“My heart is deeply heavy over the painful killings and abductions happening in Oyo state and across different parts of Nigeria,” she wrote.

Abraham sympathised with the families of the victims, saying the attacks have left many communities living in fear and uncertainty.

She lamented that the continuous violence has made life difficult for citizens, especially families who lost loved ones or are still searching for missing relatives.

“I mourn especially with the families of the victims, the parents whose children were taken, and everyone affected by the recent attacks in Oriire local government and other parts of the state,” she added.

“No Nigerian deserves to live in fear; no child should be afraid to go to school, no family should wake up to news of violence and bloodshed.”

The actress also questioned what measures were being put in place to stop future attacks and improve the safety of vulnerable communities.

“And please, what is the state government doing to prevent future occurrence?” she asked.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us, and this is a time for unity, compassion and shared responsibilities, we cannot normalise violence.

“May God comfort every grieving family, heal our nation and protect every innocent life.”

Her reaction comes shortly after actress Ruth Kadiri also called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently tackle the country’s insecurity, saying many Nigerians no longer feel safe in their homes.
