Awardwinning singer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, has reached a historic landmark by becoming the first African female artiste to record seven entries on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her track “What You Need” debuted at number 93, a feat that places her level with Burna Boy and South African rock band Seether as the African acts with the highest number of appearances on the Billboard Hot 100.

The milestone further underlines Tems’ growing global influence, coming on the back of a series of major international successes.

In 2022, she etched her name in history as the first African artiste to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 through her collaboration “Wait for U,” alongside Future and Drake.

In addition, J. Cole’s song “Bunce Road Blues,” which features Tems and Future, is expected to make its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week.
