I have no plans to eliminate LCDAs – Aiyedatiwa

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has stated that his administration has no plans to remove the recently established Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state by the late previous governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Aiyedatiwa said this in Akure during a meeting with former LGA and LCDA caretaker committee members.

He stated that the government will soon form transition committees for the 18 Local Government Areas and 33 Local Council Development Areas ahead of the upcoming local government elections in the State.

According to him, the establishment of LCDAs is one of the late former governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s legacy that must be safeguarded.

The governor informed the 255 former appointees that the opposition party’s legal case and ensuing injunction had stopped them from being sworn in and taking office.

According to him, efforts were intensifying to conclude the court dispute by a political solution approved by the court.

He stated that once the issue is finally dropped from court, any mistakes in the composition of the appointment list would be remedied, and transition committees will be established.

Aiyedatiwa advised the former appointees to be more committed to the party in their respective local government areas.

“It is critical that we work together as one big family for the advancement of the APC and the development of our state,” he stated, emphasising that the party’s leadership is united.

The State APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, supported the governor’s call for party unity and praised the Governor for his interaction with party members.

Hon. Olaniyi Gbenga and Mrs. Funke Kumuyi spoke on behalf of others, thanking the Governor for the encounter and pledging their allegiance and support for his administration.
