649

The Senate is scheduled to convene for a plenary session today (Saturday) at 1 PM to approve the 2024 budget.

According to reports, the Senate had previously adjourned plenary on Wednesday, December 21, 2023, and planned to reconvene on Friday, December 29, to deliberate on and approve the 2024 budget.

However, the Senate Clerk, Chinedu Akubueze, later rescheduled the session to Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 10 am, in a subsequent statement a few days later.

In a recent statement provided to the press on Saturday morning, Akubueze announced a further adjustment, indicating that the plenary will now commence promptly at 1 pm.

The leadership of the National Assembly has affirmed its commitment to passing the 2024 budget before the conclusion of 2023 to uphold the Federal Government’s January–December budget cycle policy.

Akubueze’s statement titled: “Plenary sitting to commence at 1pm prompt”, partly reads, “This is to kindly inform Distinguished Senators that the plenary sitting of the Senate,  scheduled for Saturday, December 30th, 2023, will hold by 1pm prompt.”
