Osun APC governorship candidate appeals to non-indigenes, promises inclusive leadership
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15 Osun election, Bola Oyebamiji, has promised members of the Arewa community and other non-indigenes living in the state full inclusion in governance if elected.
Oyebamiji made the pledge on Sunday during a public engagement with the Arewa community in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area, where he was represented by a former Special Adviser on Civic Engagement to the Osun State Governor, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.
In a statement issued after the meeting, he said his administration would introduce a structured and inclusive governance system that ensures participation from all segments of society.
“This framework will bridge the gap between government and the grassroots, ensuring that public policies reflect the direct needs and input of the people.
“The administration will bring all of them on board and make them participate actively in governance. That will give all ethnic groups a sense of belonging,” he said.
He also assured that residents would be involved in both policy development and implementation processes.
According to him, his administration would continue people-oriented programmes by engaging various groups, including farmers, traders, artisans, and non-indigenes, as key stakeholders in governance.
In response, the Seriki of the Arewa Community in Obokun Local Government Area, Alhaji Ayuba Abubakar, commended the APC-led administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for its engagement with the community.
He noted that the administration had fostered peace, provided support, and helped resolve disputes through the Office of Civic Engagement.
“We appeal to Oyebamiji to sustain the relationship established by the previous APC-led administration. We pledge our unalloyed support and will demonstrate it at the polls.
“We will support and vote for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election. Bola Oyebamiji is our candidate,” he said.
He also urged the candidate to create a more business-friendly environment to promote economic growth in the state.
