A week after 17 military personnel were killed in the Okuama community of Delta State’s Ughelli South Local Government Area, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has vowed that those responsible will not go unpunished, stating that they will undoubtedly be apprehended and face the full force of the law.

The minister, who made the vow while visiting troops of the one mechanised division in Kaduna to commiserate with the General Officer Commanding the division over the incident, says the Federal Government and military authorities will not rest until the perpetrators of the killing of military personnel on a peace mission are apprehended.

He also gave an update on the ongoing efforts to rescue the abducted schoolchildren at the Kuriga community in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, stating that the chance of rescuing the youngsters is in sight.

“We have the power, will, strength, and determination, as well as high morale, to put an end to insecurity. I know what you’ve been doing to keep the schoolchildren safe and morale up; the President fully supports you,” he remarked.

“I’ve been informed of your attempts to rescue the kidnapped schoolchildren. The initiatives that I have been briefed on are working very well, and I am confident you will receive them.

“We will release the children and return them to their parents. We appreciate your sleepless evenings to keep us secure.
