Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez guilty after driving offence
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been found guilty of failing to identify the driver of a Porsche that allegedly ran a red light in Carmarthenshire.
The 23-year-old Argentine was charged with not providing information to Dyfed-Powys Police on December 27 of last year.
Fernandez, who did not attend the hearing, was found guilty in his absence at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in Llanelli on September 11.
The magistrates have postponed the sentencing to assess any mitigating factors, including potential “exceptional hardship,” that might influence whether he will be disqualified from driving.
Fernandez, who was part of the Argentina team that won the 2022 World Cup, joined Chelsea in 2023 for a record-breaking transfer fee exceeding £106 million.
His court address was listed as the Chelsea FC training ground in Surrey.
He was accused of running a red light on Church Street, Llanelli, in a Porsche Cayenne on November 28, 2023, and of driving without insurance on the same day.
However, no plea was entered for these charges, and they were subsequently withdrawn.
