Ghana and Olympique Lyonnais forward, Ernest Nuamah has received a nomination for the 2023 CAF Young Player of the Year award.
Nuamah, who celebrated his 20th birthday on November 1, will be in competition with other exceptional young talents from the continent, including Dango Ouattara, the midfielder from Burkina Faso and Bournemouth, as well as Nigeria’s Gift Orban.
The 20-year-old had a remarkable season in the 2022/23 Danish Super Liga with FC Nordsjaelland.
As per a roster posted on CAF’s official website, Nuamah is among ten other talented young players.
His exceptional displays in the league earned him the titles of Danish Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year, contributing to Nordsjaelland’s second-place finish.
The graduate from the Right to Dream Academy also received a nomination for the Kopa Trophy. However, it was Jude Bellingham who ultimately secured the award.
In June, Nuamah received his first-ever call-up to the Black Stars and marked his debut for the senior national team during the match against Madagascar. Since then, he has netted two goals in five outings for the Black Stars.
During the summer transfer window, he made a high-profile move to French club Olympique Lyonnais, commanding a record transfer fee for a Danish player.
