Union Berlin manager Nenad Bjelica has been handed a three-game suspension for forcefully pushing Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane in the face.
In the 74th minute of Wednesday’s Bundesliga match, a confrontation unfolded during Union Berlin’s defeat when forward Leroy Sane sought to retrieve the ball from manager Nenad Bjelica on the touchline.
Bjelica, who has also incurred a 25,000 euros (£21,330) fine, raised his hands twice to Sane’s face, pushing him away, leading to his subsequent dismissal.
The German Football Association cited “unsporting behavior” in its assessment of the incident. The 52-year-old Croatian, who assumed the helm at Union in November, will be sidelined for three Bundesliga fixtures against Darmstadt, RB Leipzig, and Mainz.
Union, finishing fourth last season, currently holds the 15th position, with only a three-point buffer from the relegation play-off spot.
Meanwhile, Bayern stands second, trailing leaders Bayer Leverkusen by four points, following their 1-0 victory in Wednesday’s match.
