Nigerian singer Wande Coal has responded angrily to a claim made by fellow artiste Davido that he recently asked for his phone number, describing the Afrobeats star as a “talentless fool”.
The exchange began after Davido mentioned Wande Coal during an interview, claiming that the singer had contacted him in an attempt to obtain his phone number about two weeks earlier.
“He’s been looking for my attention for some reason. I don’t know, he even asked for my number two weeks ago and I told him not to give him. So he’s just acting like a baby. He’ll be fine. He has somebody to take care of him,” Davido said.
Davido also addressed his earlier comments about a song by Wande Coal, explaining that he had only clarified that he did not agree to record a remix of the track.
“I didn’t even say nothing bad. I just said, yeah, that I didn’t record his song as a remix and he wanted to drop it as a remix, so I was like, no, I don’t want us to do that, but if you listen to the interview, I was even like, but it would have been nice. That’s how I ended it,” he explained.
The DMW boss added that conversations involving his name often generate strong reactions within the music industry before reflecting on his relationship with Wande Coal.
“I’ve known Wande. Wande was one of the artists I was, you know, growing up, looked up to,” he said.
However, Davido also made a controversial comment about Wande Coal, stating, “I know it’s painful to see somebody come from back. So he’s not himself in the head, but he’ll be fine. One day he’ll be fine.”
Wande Coal subsequently took to his X account to dispute Davido’s account, insisting that he had not asked for his phone number two weeks earlier.
The singer also challenged Davido to publish their complete conversation to support his claim.
Wande Coal went further by describing Davido as a “talentless fool” and accused him of making false statements during a national television interview.
He tweeted: “I wonder why you no post the full chat, asked for your number 2 weeks ago, how??? WHO YOU EPP? I passed the baton to the next generation of talented artists not you talentless fool, keep capping on National TV.”
Davido later responded to Wande Coal, referring to him as a bitch and rejecting the accusation that he lacks talent.
The singer also pointed out that Wande Coal had previously wanted him to collaborate on a remix and shared a video of the pair from their studio session involving the unreleased collaboration.
Davido tweeted: “No talent but ur bitch ass was about to do a split😂😂.”
